My Little Something on Saturday

was a knitting party!  I had a local instructor come in for a few hours and try to teach the lot of us how to knit.  Everyone was at a different level.  Some did better than others, teehee!  My mama (Lesley's mum) needs a little more practice!  I told her I was going to share that!  Bless her heart, I think she knitted a lollipop!

It was really cool when I realized that we were all family and I had three generations of men!  My hubby, son and hubby's step-father.  By the way my father-in-law was the one that really did the best!  All of the men seemed to do better than the women, ugh!

Now in Mum's defense she did bring the cutest cake!

Sorry, I got a little overzealous and started hacking into it before I realized a photo was in order!  Yes, it did say knitting not kitting!  I am pretty sure some of us just kitted though!

Bentley was definitely there. Once he realized that no one would ever be able to make duplicates of him, thanks to "not a lot" of talent he loosened up and had a great time.

He rivaled the cake for being the hit of the party.  He would have outright won but there was extra icing you know! 

Today is Laura's birthday!  If you get a chance pop over with a BD greeting!

They are calling card holders! 

These are some of the goodies I have been making with my new fabric stash.  They really are easy to make.  They also have a ton of uses,  business cards, gift cards, etc...  My mother wants me to make a larger one for her camera.  (Hey look Kai no sewing!)  I got the instructions from the too talented NastyWench!

I am just so thrilled, I got two more awards!!  I can't help it, no shame here, I adore getting them!!  They really can make ones day!!  These are from one of the best bloggers ever, Lesley!  Now you know that I love Lesley but there is a problem!  My mama, now to only be referred to as MUM, is wanting to adopt her.  Yes, my VERY southern MUM thinks Lesley is her long lost child and is requesting we call her by her new moniker.  Because that is what Lesley called her!  Will somebody just shoot me if my mother ever starts to blog or if I am replaced in the will!  Seriously, if I could give the awards back they would go straight to Moogsmum aka Lesley!

I want to pass this award on to Deserae because she really helped when YaYa got a booboo!  Sincerely, thank you Des!  Plus YaYa is in love with doggie internet dating her Simon and Teddy.  I am sending it to Kai as well, because she sent me one of the sweetest emails ever! Laura gets it for the best blog line!  Kai and I agree on this one! Go to her post for January 11, 2008 and read about her lips!  I am still loving it!!! NastyWench gets it for the fantastic ideas on her blog and helping me find scalloped shears for the calling card holders above!  Jan started her very own ETSY shop this week!  So for taking the leap she deserves it also!!!  Fiberjinx and babysaurus get it for the post and photo on January 22, 2008! Jane because she has the best Christmas holiday photos and a monkey hat that I am trying to bribe out of her, haha! Alison because she has one of the most adorable blogs ever!  JenaVeve because she did not know what a blog was six months ago either!  Plus she appreciates the friendships through them!  Scarletti because she can be creative while sick and needs a gold star!  Samantha because she has her first apron as well!!

I Have Not Finished a Thing!

Cute that is!  I can say that my taxes are finished!!  WOOHOO!  Of course, that also means that my filing cabinet is cleaned out as well.  What I thought was going to be a quick, grab a few folders and go to the tax office, did not turn out quite that quick or easy!!  But, it is done and Uncle Sam likes me for another year!!

I did start about three projects during this hair pulling time.  NOTHING got finished though.  Here is a peek at what totally teased me and I played with a little I got to look at while I searched for yet one more receipt!

Because I did not finished anything, I will show you some things that got finished a longgggg time ago and reminisce a little bit!

My Granny made me this doll and blanket!  She used the fabric that my curtains and bedspread were made out of.  There used to be a pillow, I sincerely wish I still had it.  Who knows where it went!  It was too cute with a little red ruffle.

There was an older couple that lived next door to my Grandmother, Aunt Odie and Uncle George.  They were not related but acted as if they were.  Aunt Odie had a brother, Elmer that lived with them.  He had a shockingly white crew cut and he quilted!  I do not remember much else, unfortunately.  He made a quilt for my dolls.  I can still remember the day he gave it to me! It was such a surprise and so kind of him.

I cannot tell you how many doll babies where kept warm and loved with these blankets!  My cousins used to laugh and say that Elmer used his undies for some of the patches but I did not care!  I truly adore the quilt and my Raggedy Ann doll and blanket!

While I was looking for the blankies, I came across the first thing I ever sewed, way back in Junior High!  I did not even remember that I had it.

Believe it or not, it is an apron!  Sorry, no models today!

Time to move on to monkee news!  This is what I have to deal with people!  He looks so sweet, posing with the stash of kisses!

I Will Be The Best Dressed Hostess!

Woohoo, I received my very own Sommer Designs apron in the mail the other day!  Carrie has a really awesome blog and shop!  I even spotted an article about her in a mag not to long ago!  Please note that my model I am not supposed to tell you that he is a boy!! absolutely refused to allow me to bring the apron strings into the front and tie the gorgeous bow.  Oh well, you take what you can get. 

Carrie also has a wonderful tutorial for the cutest ever utility bag here on her site.

It actually snowed here for awhile, a few days ago.  But, the rain came later that night and away it went. 

But, I have hopes that it will come and stick around for a little bit.  So that I can snuggle down and read these! 

Okay, I admit I have peeked at some of the mags!  Home Companion has instructions for these slippers!  Sorry for the bad photo!

Aren't they adorable!  And imagine my surprise when I open my Romantic Homes mag to see the print used in my wallet, the one I got from Laura!!  If you haven't already, check out her blog and etsy shop!!!

I had better sign off now.  I want to have time to visit my favorite blogs and craft a little before I am forced into losing my "mama knows everything" status.  Yes, some person who secretly is trying to destroy my devious plan to convince everyone that I know everything! brilliant person bought my youngest a DVD game called Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader!  I pinkie swore that I would play tonight!  What was I thinking?  Maybe Bentley can be on my team, now that he is sober!

Another Hint

Never let your hubby work on networked computers while he is on pain medication.  There, that should help you out and explain my absence.  Considering there is more work to be done tonight, I will say it in advance, I will be back as soon as possible!  Haha!

I was warned about monkee business, but who would have thought my mother would have contributed to the delinquencies of my primates!  I let her babysit at the holidays.

Hubby and I went out and had a glorious time, only to return to this!

I do not know what is scarier, that my mother got the babies drunk and taught them how to play cards or....

knowing that she has whiskey!  Full and empty bottles people!

Oh Lord Do Not Let It Be A Hot Flash!

Well, if this just does not beat all!  I received my second award.  Paris can't strut better than me!  It came from the TALENTED AND I DO MEAN TALENTED Laura.  I have learned so much from her site!!  I would love to give it back to her if I could!

 

In turn I would like to give this one to some ladies that had already received the first award I got!  Kerry (Bentley's birth mom) and Lesley (Because she gave me a chance).  I would also like to give it to Brit and Zelia, simply because they put up with my less than stellar translations of their blogs and still like me!!  Norwegian and Portuguese are not my strong suits!

The very talented Mary Ellen tagged me for a 7 true things tag a few days ago.  So here goes!

1.  This goes with my title up there.  I have arthritis and fibromyalgia.  For a few days, I have been feeling quick fevers.  I hope they are tied in with the arthritis or FM and not menopause.  I am too young, I tell ya, too young!  Not even 40 yet!  I will let you in on a little secret though.  If you announce in a crowded store check out line, that you are having a hot flash.  They WILL open a new register and the nice people in line ahead of you, say "oh sweetie you go on ahead of us!"  Now this is our little secret, if it gets out too many people will abuse it!  That means we will all have to stand in line. 

2.  I sometimes wear a tiara when I clean my house.  (This is courtesy of my mother who saw that an actress did it.)

3.  I did not know what a blog was six months ago.

4.  My hubby always brings me flowers.  Not even because he had done anything wrong.

5.  If you ever talked to me you would probably laugh!  I have a thick country accent, and I speak fast.  Imagine one of the Clampetts on speed with very longggggg syllables!

6.  Speaking of the Beverly Hillbillies.  I have the same kitchen table they do.  My MIL got it from a lady who move from California years and years ago.  She gave it to me several years ago.  I love it but imagine my surprise when I was flipping channels and saw old Jed sitting at my table!!

7.  This is me sans makeup that I hardly but really should wear anyway.  I think I am a super model until I look in the mirror or see a picture.  Dang, I wish I could use photoshop well enough to help myself out a little or well, a lot!!

The pic is probably coming off soon, so laugh quickly!  Hubby is having some dental surgery tomorrow.  So I will be back as soon as I am able.  Believe it or not with a post that does not seem as egocentric as the last few.  But, hey I am not to proud to admit it, I love the awards!!

 

 

Can You Believe Little Ol' Me....

got an award?  Seriously, you would have thought the currently way overrated Oscars delivered my totally not overrated at all award statue yesterday.  I really appreciate this, it sincerely made me happy.  I am just gushing here! 

   

This award is for sharing and there are some simple rules.

If I could I would give it back to Lesley for so many reasons.  I would also give it to Kerry, for the laughter and mainly because she is Bentley's birth mother.  But, I think I would be breaking the rules to send it back to Lesley and Kerry received it the same time I did. 

Because these blogs teach me, motivate me, make me smile.  Because like Lesley said in her post they make me realize I am not the only one out there.  I would like to nominate Jenaveve, Scarletti, Jane, Sarah, Sam, Sharona, Jan, Deserae, Laura, and Barb.  I sincerely wish, because I enjoy so many blogs, that I could have added more!! Thanks to everyone for the blog happiness, we really should rule the world.  It would be a wonderful, crafty, humorous, beautiful place! 

Goodies

You know that I like secretly love and totally eat lots of them for any reason cupcakes.  With that being said, hubby and boys did awesome with this Christmas gift!

As if that little box was not cute enough, inside was a gorgeous necklace!

I had to have a few, and I am pretty sure that I will need just a few more!  A little heads up.  They are going to have their McCalls patterns on sale next week (1-13 to 1-16) for a dollar!  I think I will need one or two of those as well.

This was Bentley's first car ride in America, on Christmas Day.  We are still getting caught up with his tales!

Once we explained that Daddy was not drunk and driving on the wrong side of the road, he was fine.

He actually started having a good time.

My needlepunch is going pretty well.  Nothing blog worthy just yet!  Hopefully soon, hopefully!   

Christmas Revisited

Okay, I know everyone is probably tired of Christmas stories by now.  I have not posted about any of my goodies yet so bear with me over the next few posts.

This is one of the GREAT gifts my thoughtful hubby got for me.

It is a knitting machine.  I sincerely hope it is not as complicated as it looks!  I will let you know.

Now for a little monkee business.  I am a little behind posting his exploits, there are quite a few.

A Little Bragging and Some Monkee Love

Whew, it has been a hectic few days.  I can boast and say that all of my Christmas decorations are now stored away.  For some reason this year it did not seem like a burden. I took my time and thought about each ornament, bow, gift, etc...  It was actually pleasant, which is a change for me!

Now for my other brag....WhooHoo another new banner!  It was made by the amazingly talented Barb!  I am not sure how we got on each others radars but I am sure glad it happened!!  Check out her site for real eye candy!

Christmas Eve was full of excitement as you can well imagine.  However, for me it was made even better when the mail arrived.  My new baby did not have to sit in the post office for the holidays!  He arrived all the way from England just in time to celebrate!

A little background info may be needed here.  Several weeks ago I was one of the very lucky few that had extremely fast fingers.  I was able to order my very own Stunt Monkee from the incredibly talented and humorous Kerry!  Check out her blog for lots of Monkee action!  If you see photos of HP26, the one that looks a wee bit wicked,  he is now living with us!  Another good monkee site is Lesley's, she has the wonderful Ruby and some great stories!

He was just fine, and appears to like his new home

oh look he has a gift!

Yummy!  Candy and he even saved some for us!

His new name is Bentley (but you can still call him HP26).  I have lots of monkee tales to share, stay tuned.
